Professional Statement:
Dr. Leta Vaughan specializes in gynecology and is an attentive and compassionate Advanced Practice Nurse serving women in the Northwest suburbs. Her medical practice focuses on gynecology and women’s health issues. Dr. Vaughan provides pap smears, emergency contraception, quick STI testing, help with sexual issues, well woman care, family planning, diabetes management, metabolic syndrome, and menopausal issues for women. Her particular focus and interests include bio-identical hormones, holistic lifestyle, nutrition, and supplements.
Dr. Vaughan's experience and expertise has spanned over 30 years. Dr. Vaughan earned her undergrad in health sciences and nursing from the University of Joliet in Illinois, her Master’s degree in nurse midwifery from the University of Illinois, Chicago and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Dr. Vaughan is board-certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
Dr. Vaughn holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) which is a clinically focused doctorate, as compared to the traditional research-focused doctorate (PhD), and supports nursing's professional transition to the level of other professions, such as Medicine (MD), Dentistry (DDS), Pharmacy (PharmD), Psychology (PsyD), Physical Therapy (DPT)
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Vaughan serves on faculty at the University of Illinois, Chicago and Loyola University, Chicago.
One of four siblings, Dr. Vaughan has three married children in Chicago, Pekin, and New York City. Dr. Vaughan is a volunteer for the WINGS program and an advocate in the prevention of domestic violence. She is also involved with the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses and government issues for the promotion of independent practice. On her off time, she enjoys golf, biking, the arts, and theater.

Smruti Mishra, LPT, has been working with Suburban since 2014. She has a master's degree from India and currently perusing her DPT. She has been licensed to practice since 2012. Dr. Mishra has more than 5 yrs. of experience in the field of orthopedics, surgical and acute care such as burns. She has been licensed since 2012. She is married and has an adorable daughter. Besides her commitment towarde therapy, she loves to read books, swim and play tennis and spend time with her family.
